I Dreamt Of You

By: A. Greco

Last night I dreamt of you
It was so sweet and perfect
But yet it feels so wrong
To even think a simple thought
Of you being here with me
It is so hard to hold back all my emotions
You are so wonderful, and my heart aches
Because I shall never be in your arms
Only in these restless nights of mine
Will I be able to get a taste
Of how it would be if you swept me off my feet,
Kissed me tenderly and told me that you loved me
I know this will never be
But in my dream, that I had last night,
You brought my anxiety to a halt
And made my morning bright
It is now that I feel the hurt
Because only when I dream will I be able
To love you like I do
Because when my eyes are open
I would never take the chance
Of embracing you in this way
My love may be dear and true
And my desire, higher than heaven
But you are like the Forbidden Fruit
And a man who is taken and hidden behind walls
I vow that these walls will only be broken
In a place where the impossible happens
Where magic and imagination is the reason for its being
At night, when I am sleeping, I shall just dream away
All my fantasies and wishful thinking I have of you
