I Almost Wish

By: Meg Campbell

If our love had stayed unfound,
It wouldn't hurt like this,
And though we stood on solid ground,
I tumbled with that kiss.

I almost wish I'd never known
You were my perfect match.
The aching pain has slyly grown
As snakes from ova hatched.

And on that day I had to leave,
When all we said was meant,
I began to sorely grieve
For those brief moments spent.

But in my heart I hold it true
That though the price is great,
There are still but a precious few
That find their one soulmate.
