To Desiree in Heaven
by joshua dale samuels
In a world of rage,
pain and sorrow.
Where the days and years are endless,
and there's no promise of tomorrow.
Where death and sin
plague the depths of the earth.
In a place where children
are not granted the right of birth.
It's a world where few take the chance to open their eyes to the sun.
It's a place where life and love means little to anyone.
Where the depths of darkness measure far greater than we can ever see.
It's a place where we're trapped in chains and always long to be free.
It's a world where the innocent and right live in fear.
It's a place where the time of judgment is slowly drawing near.
Where problems and worries weigh down the shoulders of women and men.
It's a place contaminated with hatred and sin.
To this world we have lost a great friend.
She brought more joy to our lives than there had ever been.
When we were blind, she could see.
When everyone was deaf to our problems she replied, "tell them to me."
No one will be missed greater than she.
Now our faithful friend can walk the fields of heaven
...and know what is free.
