Next To Me
by   Jewel-e

When you ask me, how I'm doing
What should be my reply?
The truth or what you wish to hear
That I'm happy.. or just getting by.
I was told, 'life's what you make it'
But when did I ask for this pain?
Did I ask for these tears I cry?
Or for nobody to care again?

I use to laugh and be carefree
I use to love the world back...
when you were with me.
Now your mind is somewhere else, that I am not
But your body's still here next to me.

We use to be lovers and friends
We would share everything.
There were no secrets or emotions
We hid from the other.
But somewhere along the road
Everything changed suddenly.
And no matter what I try
You won't come back to me.

Somewhere along the way,
we'll find the day that takes us back.
But until that day I sit and pray
for the love we once had.
Now your mind is somewhere else that I am not
But your body's still here next to me.
