Bleeding Heart
by James Lee Ryan
I'm feeling so down, as I always am,
so I reach out, to feel the touch of a womens hand.
To my surprise the comforts there,
winding warmth into my cold air.
A sigh of relief, false hope,
the disbelief.
Someone to hold me, throw me,
comfort me and abuse me.
Someone to trust,
coming back into my life.
All the pain fades,
my past goes into hiding.
My eyes can once again glow,
knowing the emptiness is filled.
A silent kiss,
the coming together of two soft lips.
A closeness, a love,
a silence, ...more silence.
Then the silence is broken.
Broken as a brick of ice falls upon my warm heart,
only to become frozen again.
Betrayed,
but to no surprise.
The feelings inside deepen,
growing now out of control.
A state of hiding,
depression.
There is no cure,
except that small trickle of blood down my cheek.
Then slowly inside of me,
it begins to pour.
Once again a bleeding heart.
Leaving me further alone in the darkness,
farther from the start.
