Buried Soul
by Robin Lee Bitz

For the longest time
my heart and soul
has been covered with frost

I kept my heart adamantly hidden
behind a steel wall

I kept it there to secure my heart
from emotional pain

Then spontaneously I met you
and I began to slowly fall

Your smile teased my heart
to leave that bitter cold
and that isolated place

all it took was one look from
your baby blues
upon your angel like face

I gently let my heart unfold
I knew then that my heart
was beginning to build a new mold

Your acceptance of my love
made my heart and soul
soar up from the bitter cold
My heart emerged like a white
beautiful dove

You have given my heart and soul
new life
My heart no longer bares
the resembleness that
it has been pierced with a sharp knife
