Destiny Sandwich
by Colin T Johnson

On the way home from work, tired, hungry...
I stop for a sandwich.
Attractive woman behind the counter,
eyes me up as I order.

Order in, I grab some chips, a soda...
then circle back to the counter.
With an engaging grin,
the woman passes my sandwich to me.

I take it, start to turn and quickly she asks,
"Are you single?"
Taken aback, I smile shyly and reply,
"Um, yes I am."

Her eyes sparkle as she asks,
?Would you like my number??
I brighten; a wide smile crosses my face and say,
?Sure.?

A phone call leads to breakfast,
breakfast leads to discovering common interests.
Common interests lead to finding a bond between us,
the bond leads to a proposal.

They say destiny turns on a dime,
but I say it turns on a sandwich.
