Crush
by Dana Lauren Tapper

I long to smile, yet, I can't stop crying.
The room is quiet, it's true I?m dying.
I can hear them, yet they still don?t know.
Sixteen years old, and ready to go.
It was at a party, a beer or two.
Mom, I should have listened to you.
It was a small mistake, a stupid crush.
Everything seemed perfect, romantic, and lush.
I didn?t see it coming; oh, I?m too young to die.
Mom and Dad, I wish it wasn?t goodbye.
Mommy, you?ll be okay, oh Daddy, please don?t cry.
A pretty angel?s taken my hand,
I feel like a bird ready to fly.
I?m no longer fearing it,
for now it is the right thing to do.
Angels and places can?t change my feelings,
I promise I'll always love you.
