Once there was...
by Mona Sofie Olsen

Once there was
a girl
who never knew
the world
outside
her
window

Her childhood
was captured
by
a black ugly
bird

Then came a
friend along
and showed
the
girl
the colors
and all the joy
that were
to be
found
outside

She trusted
this friend
with all her heart
and all
her dirty
secrets
She believed she
had finally
found
a
friend

But, he let
her down
again
and
again

Once there was
a girl
who for the first time
felt love in
her
heart

Now there is
a girl
who will never
trust a human being
ever
again
