Trespasser
by Rebecca Walkins Randle

i invited you into my world,
but you did not reciprocate.
you only left me standing,
outside your lonely gate.

i gave my heart to you,
but you never gave me yours.
i heard that you'd exchanged it,
at one of Love's new stores.

i mailed my soul to you,
in an unmarked envelope,
i'd wished that you would nourish it,
and give me newfound hope.

but i was such a fool,
to pursue the unrequited,
and trespass into territory
to which i hadn't been invited.

i'm sorry.
