The Promise
by Matthew James Scoggins

The promise you made that night as
i held you under the starlight...
You swore to me that you would love
me forever, but i guess i wasn't enough
for you. You wanted more than i could
give you.

Now i drive away in Rage because I saw
you holding another beside your body, with
his lips embracing yours. I did what i could
to hold back, but there was nothing you could
do after i saw that my heart was broken, and
my trust in you was absolutely demolished.

I swore that i loved none other than you, and I
haven't, and i never will. I fear that i have
become a lost soul in this world. My heart
is broken and cannot be repaired. I am now
the one thing i feared...
Alone.
