Honesty
by Rebecca Walkins Randle

You thought your words might hurt me,
but your candor set me free.
Free to die,
or free to fly...

The choice of sorrow or elation
brought such sweet emancipation.
I was a slave to my emotions...
the girl with crazy notions.

Your words now echo through my mind,
ironically, not cruel but kind.
Your honesty restored my sight,
with newfound wings, I start my flight.
