Misty Morning
by Jim Davidson
As I awake this morning
Still, silent darkness all around
Sleepy eyes looking outside
Can hardly see the ground
I get my morning coffee
Onto the porch- a moment to sit
Such a peaceful, misty morning
Undisturbed by days bustle, yet
A small brown cottontail rabbit
Nibbles grass, ignoring me
Feeling safe within my sight
No danger from which to flee
I hear the fading song
As nights last whippoorwill
Calls softly to it's mate
And flies off 'ore the hill
Foretelling the end of darkness
Fireflies tail does dimly glow
As white puffy clouds turn pink
Nature begins her morning show
You come and sit beside me
As the first sunbeams touch the lawn
Your head upon my shoulder
Makes, perfect, this misty dawn
