Heaven's Gate
by Sylvia Leigh
Would that I might fashion a stairway
Ascending to Heaven's door....
Stairs meant only for star-crossed lovers
With celestial realms to explore.
Both you and I would daringly climb
Each step and as we would...
Our hands enclasped, our souls entranced
As only lovers should.
You and I would witness the sky
As if the angels knew,
To brighten each star with radiant light...
Constellating my love for you.
Then when we reached as high as we
Might ever possibly go....
Heaven would open its beautiful gates
And you and I would go...
