Champagne
by Elson Albert Hendricks

Champagne and chocolate
are they forever?
Do they go together
like the earth and weather?

I don't know
I've never tasted
I've viewed and chased it
But I've never tasted it

Champagne, so unique
shall never be wasted,
not upon my lips
I look up
view crystal wine glass lips
bubbling
calling me for a sip.

but I'm so low
and born to serve
a chocolate sweet, tempting hors d'oeuvre.
I yearn to sip but I've no nerve
sitting on this fine China curb.

Wondering how we correlate
how everyone says that we taste great
together, as if an act of Fate...
And still and still I've yet to taste
Champagne and chocolate
are they forever?
Do they go together like the earth and weather?

I don't know, I've never tasted,
I've viewed and chased it
but I've never tasted
Champagne
