Sunlight
by Chris  Hughes

azure letters contain
the mesmerizing sun
focusing glorious light
to illuminate my soul

my sunflower face
upturned to savor
every last morsel
of your presence

the blessed spark
of your warmth
inflames me
with wildfire passion

rejoicing in the downpour
of your incandescent
love for me
I grow stronger

together our journey
trails fire
to the western horizon
promising dusk

shades of crimson
tell the tale
of your departure
and darkness enshrouds me

starlight memories
wink here and there
in my mind
foretelling the dawn to come
