light & darkness
by pedro pinon gregorio
i don't go out in the morning. or at noon
when the sun curves over the horizon.
dried tears and sunbeams don't mix,
like light & darkness.
i don't go out to the hot waters. and the sands
are like tiny fires searing on the soles
of my feet, sealing distances and time,
like light & darkness.
and the lovers on the beach,
their laughter and smiles and touches,
wrenches out too many words in the waves...
like light & darkness.
aloneness means shades and evenings.
morning and noon are never mistresses
to solitary souls. separate and different,
like light & darkness.
