PAYMENT
by Avery  Robertson

A voice, once so beloved,
is now long forgotten.
Secrets held deep within the soul
are ripped away, coldly taken.

No comfort beyond the empty place
held within these blank eyes;
lips mimic silently
*good-bye, good-bye*

Day clouds move overhead,
Night stars try to hide,
Tears fall constantly......
a never ending ride.

So much gained;
so much lost,
I've taken too much
...and look what it cost!
