by Stephen John Keating

Little could I dream, on that day, so long ago
that my life was about to change, my spirit about to awaken
from the deep slumber it had, slowly, fallen into.

Little could I know, when I first heard your name
that my life was soon to change, my soul, about to soar
from the deep valley it had, slowly, fallen into.

Little could I hope, when the breeze brought your smile
that my life was soon to change, my heart about to open
from the deep sadness it had, slowly, fallen into.

Little could I feel, when you brushed against my cheek
that my life was soon to change, my affection about to struggle
from the deep shadow it had, slowly, fallen into.

Little could I sense, until I first felt your embrace
that my life was soon to change, my emotion about to emerge
from the deep darkness it had, slowly, fallen into.

Little could I think, until your voice filled the air
that my life was about to change, my song about to grow
from the deep silence it had, slowly, fallen into.
