The Rose
by Matthew Stephen Kelly
Alone in an ocean of green,
a single flower blooms.
This rose is not an ordinary one,
for it is a rose of many colors.
But this peculiar rose is...
Alone.
One day there is movement
in the field of green.
Slowly another flower blooms
as if to keep the multi-colored rose
company.
This rose however,
is of the purest white.
The roses grow together
and pronounce their happiness,
together.
Clouds cover the sky,
and the landscape turns bleak,
almost lifeless.
The beautiful rose of white
cannot survive in the severe weather.
Eventually the rose of white is no more,
it's petals dance in the wind as they float ,
away from the emerald field.
Here stands a rose,
like any normal rose
except that this one is bent over
and is of odd color.
The blue rose now stands just tall enough,
to pronounce it's sadness.
