Who?
by Robert Louis Arehart

   Who would I miss
if I didn't miss you?
   Would she be as pretty,
as gay, as true?

   Would her smile be winsome,
her face as dear
   her wit so charming,
her eye so clear?

Could her laugh make me tingle,
her glance cause me pain,
  in that sweet anguished way
of love's refrain?

Would the lift of her head
as she reads my mind's eye,
   cause the stirring inside
that makes my heart cry?

Would the smell of her hair
as I hold her near
cause a lump in my throat,
in my eye- a tear?

Would the sight of her coming
lift me on high?
   And stir me about
like clouds in the sky?

   I know who I'd miss
if I didn't miss you
   but, it wouldn't be someone
equal to you!

   It couldn't be someone
nearly as nice
   for none has been born
with your sugar and spice!

   I'll never miss anyone
quite in the way
   as I miss you now,
at the end of day.

I miss you and need you
now as I write
in the grey gloom of evening
and still of the night.

I miss you and want you
with every heart beat.
And I pray that you'll want me
 - to make life complete!
