Untitled
by Laura  Mitchell

Love is a thing with claws
      that attaches to the heart-
It can bring you utter happiness
      or tear your world apart.
And sweeter than the brightest sun
that sails in the day sky-
Oh, to have the heavenly demon
      come and stay close by-
I've heard so many call its name
and still it's ne'er been seen,
Just to have it touch me once
     would be ecstacy,
Love is something wild that
     can not be caged in-
To ask it to stay forever
   would be the blackest sin.
So Love does come and visit,
    and stays a short stay,
But in the end my heart does bleed,
     as it swiftly runs away.
