From the shelf on which you sit,
behind the faded glass,
tarnished is the frame,
not unlike our past.

Why I keep you there
I will never understand.
reminisce of a love
that will never be again.

There's no longer any trace,
nothing left to see,
memories set in glass,
is all it will ever be.

The picture tells a story
that only we can hear,
words that go unspoken
for only us to hear.

How could we know,
what more could we do?
time had sealed our fate,
our road had split in two.

We never had a chance,
our hearts would always weep,
the love that came our way,
we were never meant to keep.

We are no longer those people,
we are tarnished like the frame
time took it's toll
it can never be the same.

I can pretend all I want
see what isn't there,
tell myself lies
to convince me you're here.

Behind the faded glass
lives forever-and-a-day
priceless is the memory
time can't take away.

and just for a moment
I'm able to feel again
but love that beats the heart
is always soon to end.

So from the shelf on which you sit
where time cannot be told
ageless behind the glass
our love cannot grow old.
