Praying For a Rainbow
by Rebecca Walkins Randle
You look at me with furious eyes,
like storm clouds--dark and ominous.
Lightning flashes across your face
and your words are like thunder;
crashing through my mind,
rumbling through my soul--
The rain is pouring down my face,
damp pain is seeping through
to my fragile, aching core.
I kneel in awkward silence,
strangled by the bleakness,
suffocated by the gloom--
Praying for a rainbow.
