Hope for Tomorrow
by Isabel Caila Samuels

The snow falls then the flowers bloom
I smile... then again I turn to gloom
I search still for love and seem to always miss it
It shouldn't have a problem finding me- the lantern stays lit

The stars mock me, they smile and shine
I only wish their happiness could be mine
As love bypasses me, leaving little hope for tomorrow
Here I lay in my own storm of sorrow

I see you watching me, feel you smile
Maybe you'll be mine at the end of the next mile
But I don't wish, won't let my heart build hope
I leave just enough faith, enough to cope

So, I watch the snow fall with a slight smile on my face
And know that one day I'll be happy in this place
So, here I lay and think about tomorrow
And let my heart lean toward hope... rather than sorrow
