Stranger within me
by Chris L Corey
It's getting cold now?
Maybe I should sit here and wait
Wait just for a minute or two
For the stranger from within me
To hold me tight
I can't seem to remember when you came along
Can't seems to remember the sound of your voice
Can't seems to remember the touch of your fingers
Can't seems to remember the smell of your skin
Just don't know what to do
Maybe I should sit here and wait
Wait, just for a minute or two
Listening to the waves
And how it brings you back
How it used to bring you back
Back to warm these frozen places in my heart
Maybe I should sit here and wait
Wait, just for a minute or two
To pause in the veil of time
And reflect on these fading memories
How you were the drink I never should have taken
How I was the party that made you feel your age
How you were the pills that healed my wounds
How I was the universe that surrounds you
How you were the secret of my stolen past
How I was the dream of your bleeding skies
How you were the gentle rain that washed over my skin
How I was the honesty that made you unkind
Maybe I should sit here and wait
Wait, just for a little while more
To pause in the veil of time
And weave these fading memories
How it used to bring you back
Back to warm these frozen places in my heart
The stranger from a different time
And yet cocoons me from within?
