About Love
by Javon Marie Montes

It can whisper soft into your ear,
and guide you to the light,
or pull you from the warmest place
into the coldest night.

On the darkest day you'll feel its touch,
its breath blows past your neck.
It will turn to you and upon
your cheek leave the deepest peck.

Upon the shore it will
walk with you, hold your very hand,
while the moonlight dances off its face
and reflects off crystal sand.

With passion it takes in every word
that hangs upon your lips;
it breathes the breath that you release,
by your side is where it sits.

It will lead you on the longest road
even though your heart is tired;
your strongest problems hit the rocks
yet somehow seem so mild.

While your face is turned, it could leave you there
with darkness all around;
yet, the cold and misty vapor air
is always to be found.

The dampness soaks your very heart
as it sinks beneath the waves,
and down the path you hear its steps...
it has walked away.

Upon your head falls drops from the sky.
Upon your mind falls the question "why?"
Upon your deepest, true emotions
it has played its little game;
and upon your heart you know,
you were just another prey.
