Silhouette
by Colleen Brigid McKelvey

Standing there
the sun behind you,
an outline of my heart.

What ever happened to our
"crushes" and "wishes"
replaced by "what ifs", I suppose.

Standing there,
the sun behind you,
doubting from the start.
One by one,
the shadows fade.

As if to say:
"The day has lasted much too long."

Your beauty precedes you,
But in my eyes,
only a shadow on the wall,
a silhouette
of what I used to have.
