My First Love
by Jeff  Erhart

The night is set
The air is sweet
We're all dressed up
As our hands meet.

Drawing some air in
I close my eyes
Our lips touch
As you begin to sigh.

Your body shakes
Fingers hold you tight
You refuse to hold back
The sound is so bright.

Your beauty glitters
As we stand in back
Carrying over the shoulders
Of our patrons in black.

The couples in front
They turn our way
Our essence strikes them
Like night turning to day

A listener walks up
"You sound like Miles"
I look at my trumpet
As we break into smiles.
