Loveing A Soldier
by jimmy lee kight

Loving a soldier is so hard, they say,
Losing them is the price you pay.
It's being young and feeling old,
It's letting them whisper their love for you
And whispering back, you love them, too.

Then comes a kiss and a promise to wait
Knowing it could be years for their release date
It's extremely painful letting them go,
Watching them leave with eyes full of tears
Standing alone with their dreams, hopes, and fears

Although you're near but so far away
Their love for you grows with each passing day
Loving a soldier may not be much fun
But it's worth it when there service is done

Remember they're lonely and depressed from being away
And they're thinking of you every second of everyday
So love, miss and please tell them so
Because if you love them- They desperately need to know

There isn't anything in life that is really simple
All because you fell in love with a soldier
