Loved by an old one, loved by a new one
by Kelsey Richelle Hopkins

As everyone looks into the past,
they see two very young teenagers falling for each other.
Sharing their deepest secrets,
trusting that neither will tell.

As we spent more and more time together we started to fall in love.
Everybody believed that it was a friendly relationship,
But it was so much more.
Not knowing it was, as our last year came, we started to fall deeper.

As your graduation came you told me the news.
I was torn, destroyed, everything came crashing down,
Neither one of us knowing when we would see each other again.
You left, leaving me behind with nothing.

As you left, you took my heart with you,
leaving me with shattered pieces.
I tryed to keep in touch,
but you kept pushing me further away.

As I cried myself to sleep thinking that I lost everything,
I awoke one morning thinking, if you moved on, so could I.
As I went and explored, I found all the wrong guys,
But one night, the greatest night of my life, I met someone.

Thinking I would never give my heart away, that thought vanished.
He was everything you used to be, but he was also so much more.
As we started going out I knewI had found my actual true love,
the one that wouldn't hurt me, leave me behind.

The pieces of my heart you took, he is slowly putting back, very carefully.
And as I look back at those four years, I see I made a huge mistake.
That mistake was loving you!
