Maybe Tomorrow
by tiffany ophelia connor

I've seen you look at me
with those pitiful eyes
Your cute little button nose is so red
Your cheeks flushed
That cough of yours is to die for
You look so miserable sitting there
Thank God there's no fever
The medicine takes forever to take effect on you
Your little body looks so fragile.

Maybe tomorrow you'll be feeling better
And I'll have my naive little princess back
Jumping and twirling around
Chasing Peppy from the kitchen to the hallway
Sitting in your room reading yourself a story
Maybe tomorrow you'll be able to play with sister
Kiss her on her cheeks
Holding her while you sit down
Helping mommy do chores
Maybe tomorrow you'll be yourself.
