Rekindled Companionship
by Farah Sheikh Abdiaziz

I know not what sea peril has come my way.
With her, i saw light beyond the tides
and losing sight of it for once,
i renounce our company
and bid her farewell.
i shall come ashore, i promise.

I take a new course
but suddenly lose fortitude
to face the tall tides alone.
And solitude engulfs me
knowing her well; i cry for her help
she's not gone.

I'm the Captain, "welcome aboard,"
she says.
The journey is long,
i wonder what magic goes her way
for almost immediately
more light comes into my view.
