California
by Gina  Murray

Snapshots of life
that look better in black and white
cover the walls of my mind
So many places
and yet I've been nowhere
But California still stands out as the best

I've never seen a love quite like those sunsets
Never seen desire like those waves
Never seen longing like the city
I was caught up in the magic of California
Intertwined fingers, staring at the sky
artificial stars can't hold a candle to these
What a view, city lights burn late into the night

All I want is to be a light
in one of those buildings
To be caught up, to be in the middle
of the excitement, of the bustle
A smile that matches the stereotypical
west coast sun

And I can't bring myself to leave
I'd drive for two hours
Just to spend one
Seeing stars in my eyes
becuase I'm the lucky one
I just want to stay
California
As long as you're near
California
Wish you were here
