ImaginaryYou
by Willow Brooke Hargreves

I lie here thinking about you
Wishing you were lying by my side
Although I know none of it's true
At least I know I never lied.
My delusional thinking is killing me
As I?m falling in love with you
My thoughts of my future, my life and my dreams
Are replaced by an imaginary 'you.'

I must be crazy, to fall in love with a thought
I must be crazy to fall in love with you.
You?re the one thing that keeps me from going insane
You plague and invade my crazed brain.
You don't exist
You?re not really there
You?re nothing but a haze and a mist,
But you know what... I don't even care.

You?ve grown from a vision in my mind's eye
To a being of someone I trust
You don't answer back, you can't even lie
To love you and crave you I must
You stand by my side in moments of madness
Though I?m the only one who can see you
You take away heart wrenching sadness
But I can't admit it ain't true.

One day you may fade from existence
In my memory, though, you'll still remain
Nothing but heartfelt resistance
But I?ll know you'll be mine to claim
Remember me softly, the way I will you
Believe that it all was real
And although we both know that nothing was true
It won't change the way that I feel.
