Don't tell Me
by Haley Maries Powell

People told me I wouldn't survive
People told me I'd never be worth anybody?s while
Until a stranger came along and told me
That I'd never make it through this hell
If I shelter away from the pain
That I hide in an office full of shame
To let it devour me till there is nothing left
I led myself to believe that I would suffer forever

Don't tell me I should lie down and die
Don't tell me I should surrender to the lies
Don't tell me Life?s NOT worth fighting for
Don't tell me I'm not walking on soil full of war
Because I'll fight to stay where I belong
And that's in your arms
I'll fight to survive
I'll fight to stay alive
I'll fight for you
And you alone

They told me love was Impossible
They told me our love wouldn't last
They told me I wasn't worth your time
But they have no clue what's in my past
My past is full of love and filled with love for you
And I know that's the least I can do
Because you?re forever in my broken heart
That is now mended
It won't fall apart
They were wrong
We were right
So when it comes down to it?
WE DID FIGHT

SO?

Don't tell me I should lay down and die
Don't tell me I should surrender to the lies
Don't tell me Life?s NOT worth fighting for
Don't tell me I'm not walking on soil full of war
Because I'll fight to stay where I belong
And that's in your arms
I'll fight to survive
I'll fight to stay alive
I'll fight for you
And you alone
