The Everchanging Me
by Lyndel Opozda
I have searched the world
for my one true love,
My other half, my equal,
My true companion
I have yearned for her
I have prayed for her
I have grown and changed for her
I have prepared myself for her arrival
I have talked to God
I have done his work hoping to be worthy
I have paid my dues
Taken my licks
Suffered my consequences
Cried and grown from it all.
I have met someone different
Someone real
Someone open
Someone accepting
Someone special
and now...
I find myself changing... again
Back to who I am
Back to who I always was
Back to the one I have tried to hide
The one who has frightened others with his beauty
That loving, open and wonderful me
The one I love. The one I was born to be.
To be oneself is truth in it's purest form.
It frees the soul to shine as God intended it.
This is her gift to me
I feel renewed
Unshackled
Open
Vulnerable
Confident
If I could design the perfect "one"
The ideal partner
My true companion...
It would be her
