Love Stronger
by Alyssa Anne Vitry

Love stronger, he said
So I gave, hoping he would do the same
Giving everything I possessed

Love stronger, he cried
So I tried to please him
Putting aside my wants and dreams for his

Love stronger, he begged
And I rebelled in frustration
Forcing him to face his denial

Love stronger, he pleaded
As I sat there crying on the floor
Bleeding from a heart that I helped to damage

Love stronger, he shouted
Holding me in anger
While I tried to smooth a balm on his wounds

Love stronger, he screamed
Turning to walk away from me
While I stood there numb and shaking

Love me, I whispered
As he gave up on our hearts
And we parted forever
