Mother
by Richard Netherland Cook

Sometimes I think I see you standing by my bed,
And I want to talk to you, but no words are ever said.
You are always in my heart,is that the reason why,
I wake up from my sleep, and see you standing by.
If I had but just one wish, I'd wish that once again,
I could go back in time to where it all began.
To me, my sister and my brothers,
You were the dearest of all mother's.
I know that you loved me, and I loved you too,
Motherhood was your calling, Heaven was your due.
Your gentle care and loving ways,
Helped me through my childhood days.
Even in my later years, through heartache and some tears,
Your faith in me was always there, so many, many years.
Now I have lost you Mother, no one will ever know,
The pain that lives within me, my heart is broken so.
I want again to see you, to feel your loving touch,
To say the things I seldom said, Like I love you very much.
I stand before your grave now, memories never fade,
Always to remember was the promise that I made.
Always caring, always loving, so gentle and so kind,
I shall never forget you, dear sweet Mother of mine.
