Pen-Pal Love
by Cynthia A. Rivera

We started out being pen-pals,
Knowing that you needed someone to lift your spirtits;
Our friendship grew over time,
We were open in our conversations;

The sky was the limit as to what we spoke about,
I started to reveal a bit more about me;
Not wanting to admit that I was feeling you,
After all, you did say to me that you weren't expecting much
out of this pen-pal thing;

So I stayed hush about my feelings for you,
And then one day I got a letter from you
Telling me how you feel me;
That is when I decided to let you in on my secret,

How ironic it is, I think,
After all - is it possible to find love while being a pen-pal??
And so the poem ends with us continuing
to write our letters to this day.
Our love growing ever so stronger.

I have felt more respect from you than a 'free' man.
Knowing me first and deciding on the next step
Supporting each other on life's situations..

May God Bless You and Watch Over You.
