Behind my smiles is where I hide
by Yolanda  Vega

My heart beats with anxiety
from the pain that's inside,
to know that no one stands by me
during the times I need them most,
at least none by my side.

It hurt's so much to feel alone
Yet, behind my smiles is where I hide

I lend a hand to those in need,
but no sign of appreciation do I recieve
As life goes on it gets harder and harder
School, work, and financial stability just brings me down

But yet, I walk around with my head up high,
with a smile on my face
Little do they know
that behind my smiles is where I hide

The morning may be nice
The sun may be bright
But inside... my heart beats with pain,
The morning sun turns into a rainy day

But as the days goes on
I keep a smile on my face
Unfortunately, behind my smiles
is where I hide...
