Nobody Knows It
by Joe  Pirraglia

I never hit the high notes
When we sang
?Don?t Go Breaking My Heart?
In that karaoke bar
That was more of a restaurant

But you sounded beautiful

I told the crowd
After the applause that we
Had been dating for three months
Even though we hadn?t

And you laughed

I smiled because I thought
You were going to be mad
When I said that
You never liked relationships

I remember that time
When I was drunk
Asking you to be my girlfriend
And you said, ?I can?t be in a relationship
Right now?

When I hear our song on the radio
I know you feel it, too
I?ve heard you hum the melody
Right before you lie down
