Gentle raindrops
time comes to a stop
heavy footsteps running down the hall
something begins to fall
hitting the floor
an opening door
screaming at the sight
what happened that night???

The final drop hits
but no one admits
that the body lying there
was hers- once ever so fair
because it lies, now lifeless and still.
She took that one last pill
swallowed it with a heavy sigh
knowing it was the last time she would cry.

Yet, no one ever knew they couldn?t see
how broken her heart had come to be.
But like those gentle drops of rain
her tears emptied the pain
as she gave her last breath
and gave into death.
