Dreaming of Your Face
by Brian D. Sullivan
Just last night,
when I lay down,
my heart began to race.
It knew that soon
I'd be asleep
and dreaming of your face.
Dreaming of
a time when you
ran towards me, not away.
When, I love you,
want you, need you,
was all I heard you say.
When your big eyes
sparkled bright
and stared at me with love.
Sparkled brighter
than the stars
in the sky above.
Before I turned them
red as roses,
from crying all yor tears.
Stole the love back
from your heart,
and filled it full of fear.
When we fought,
over stupid things,
till there was nothing left to say,
but then made up,
and held on tight,
both promising to stay.
Stay in each others
arms forever,
no matter what life might bring.
We spoke of spending
our lives together,
we spoke of exchanging rings.
All of these things
I dream about,
a smile on my face, I'm sure,
that's melted by
the morning sun,
as I'm pulled back to this world.
I wake to face
another day,
a day without you here.
So anxious for the night to come,
so I can sleep
and you'll be here...
