Old lover's proverb
by Brian Micheal Tate

Red sky tonight, this sailor takes delight.
Her long silky dark hair, it dangles down,
As she approaches, now in the twilight.
Oh princess dear, let me give you your crown.

As I lay with you, oh lord, down to sleep.
If I die, in your arms, before I wake.
I pray thee girl, so good, my heart to keep.
Then I desire, you girl, my heart to break.

The sun rises, and you walk out the door.
Panic, wanting of thy warmth, I miss you.
I am left to believe, you are a whore.
Doubt, recalling the passion of us two.

This sad abandonment leaves me scorning.
Red sky in morning... sailor take warning.
