Today, I lost her
by Zelda  Evans

Today, I lost her.
In the wee hours of the morning,
She slipped away.
All that she worked for
Came crumbling down around her.

Today, she lost her grip on reality,
All the good turned sour,
All the strong fell weak.
Before the sun even rose,
She lost all control.
She no longer knew who she was.

Somewhere along the line,
She fell short
Of what everyone wanted from her,
Leaving her
Void, without an identity,
Just a label,
Failure,
Disapointment.
In the privacy of her own mind

All the pain she suffered,
All the pain she caused,
All the times she was let down,
All the times she let them down,
Came rushing in,
And it became too unbearable.
She has been lost amongst the shuffle
Of those getting higher.

She won't be missed.
Today, I lost myself.
The once strong self has quietly exited.
The secure person I once was
Is now gone.
In the wee hours of the morning
My happiness slipped away.

Before the sun even rose
My joyous disposition surrendered to all my pain,
Letting the reality of the world set in.
Today I lost all hope of finding my happy self again.
