There was a Hole in my Heart
by   Remember Love

There was a hole in my heart
so I threw in a tree
it didn?t suffice
so I threw in three

Then a book with wit
and a red rubber ball
some odd colored string
but that was not all

I squished in a sponge
in the shape of a fish
some soup from a bowl
a cake and a wish

A raft bright as sunshine
and a pink shovel too
a handful of sand
and a bucket, bright blue

After checking to see
If the hole had grown small
I found to my horror
there was no change at all

So, in desperate attempt
to answer the call
I coolly dug up
and threw in a wall

It was brick and serpentine
the kind Jefferson loved
and I was quite certain
such beauty when shoved

would fill to the brim
this heart-hole exclusive
but as it turns out
joy is illusive

and there is nothing,
no nothing... no nothing at all
that can fill up the void
once you fall
So, learn from me reader
and take care as you play
when it's love that you find
...don?t throw it away
