Gem of a Woman
by Avery  Robertson

Lips, like rubies, glisten
with the radiance of a soul
touched by a golden crown
made of the sun
and blessed by the silver moon.

Strength, firm like iron
she shows that fire which was
built from the broken limbs
of ancient oak.

Look away child,
from the past to the future-
live here in the present,
and I will give
the fruition of my visions.

Honor, hard and firm,
like sapphires in the rough
she moves like iridescent waters
of flowing opals,
fragile, yet strong as diamonds, bright.

Bloodstone flows
through her veins,
and emeralds
grace her eyes,

she is you,
she is me,

forever bound
forever free.
