Moments
by anthony james de Matteis

I was a drowning soul when our eyes met
You offered wine and things I haven't heard yet
You're a day older than forgotten youth
Only in this moment with you
It's like life didn't exist before the truth

Summer heat drives neglected desires
While melon juices drip down your neck
Tasting chocolate covered kisses of passion
Reliving yesterdays with new Kama Sutra positions
Your pale skin starts browning in a tangled sun
While waves wash away the scars of age

Dancing a forgotten dance of an oasis
From a song sung some moons ago
One touch of a true love
Erases all prior loves
And that's a feeling only your few chosen know

We only have this moment
And in this moment I've lived a lifetime
No regrets and we won't say good-bye
And we'll put the stars back into the sky
As the gods have painted us
I will be back to drink your wine...
