Heart Storm
by Karen J Cole

It is a rainy day that comes my way
When, seeping in my soul, you stir my pain.
I cast about my eyes but see no ray.
I blindly grasp for something-- hear the rain.

It is a storm that leaves me in its wake,
Unlike the trees that bow, we could not bend.
A gust takes ardor, leaving only ache.
I blindly grasp for something-- feel the wind.

Raging force retreats-- avasts the raids.
Enlightened dawn, profound wisdom conveys.
As seasons change, with faith your bearing fades,
I firmly grasp for something-- clear the haze.

Enamored sun emerges from the strife.
I seize the light and slip back into life.
