If Only
by   LadyofKnight

A coral sun, a swirl of blue,
Purple brush strokes fill the sky.
If only I were a beautiful bird,
To your arms, I'd surely fly.

The autumn leaves in russet hues,
Dancing now upon the breeze.
If only I had glistening wings,
I would soar above the trees.

When stars came out and filled the sky
And chased away the day,
My wings would bring me close to you,
And close to you I'd stay.

As moonlight traced the silken leaves
And we began to dream,
I'd think about how blessed we were
And how simple this had seemed.

Another coral sun is born
To a morning crisp and blue.
If only I were a beautiful bird,
I know just what I'd do.
